FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Everything about how PlannerDock stores your data and what it does (and doesn't) do.

Do I need an account?+

No. PlannerDock has no sign-up and no login. Open any tool and start planning — your work saves to this browser automatically.

Is PlannerDock free?+

The current version is free and processes no payments. Paid Plus and Business tiers are planned for the future but aren't active yet.

Is my planning data uploaded anywhere?+

No. Tasks, habits, goals, projects, notes, and schedules are stored locally in your browser and are never sent to a PlannerDock server.

Where exactly is my data stored?+

Structured data lives in your browser's IndexedDB, and simple preferences use LocalStorage. Both stay on your device.

Can I sync across devices?+

Not automatically. Because there's no backend, PlannerDock can't sync on its own. You can move your workspace by exporting a backup and importing it on another device.

Can I use PlannerDock offline?+

Once the app has loaded, the planning tools work without a connection in most browsers, since your data is local. Full offline install (PWA) is on the roadmap.

Can I export my data?+

Yes. From Workspace you can export a full JSON backup or a ZIP package, and export individual modules (tasks, habits, projects, focus sessions) as CSV.

Can I print planner pages?+

Yes. The printable planner builder and most tools offer a print view and PDF export, all generated on your device.

Can I import a backup?+

Yes. Workspace → Import backup validates the file first and then restores it. Invalid files are rejected before anything is written.

Can I clear all my data?+

Yes. You can clear a single module or the entire workspace. Destructive actions ask for confirmation first, and we recommend exporting a backup beforehand.

Does PlannerDock connect to Google Calendar?+

No. PlannerDock uses no external calendar APIs. Calendar file import/export is on the roadmap, but there is no live calendar connection.

Does PlannerDock send reminders?+

There are no email or push reminders. The focus timer can use optional browser notifications while a tab is open, and only after you grant permission.

Does PlannerDock use AI?+

No. There's no AI in the product. Notes, goals, and journals contain only what you write.

What happens if I clear my browser storage?+

Clearing your browser's site data will remove your PlannerDock workspace unless you've exported a backup. Keeping an occasional backup is the safest habit.

Which browsers are supported?+

Recent versions of Chrome, Edge, Firefox, and Safari on desktop and mobile. IndexedDB and modern JavaScript are required.

Can I use PlannerDock for client work?+

Yes, you're welcome to use it for professional planning. Commercial-use terms are being formalized alongside the planned paid tiers.

Are the paid plans active?+

Not yet. Plus and Business are shown so you know where things are heading, but there is no checkout and no payment processing today.

Can I create custom templates?+

Yes. You can save any planner setup as a template and reuse it, and duplicate built-in templates as a starting point.
