What to Review at the End of Every Month

A monthly look-back is longer than a weekly one and answers different questions. Here's a short template.

Zoom out from the week

A weekly review keeps the machine running; a monthly review checks the machine is pointed the right way. It's worth a slightly longer sitting, once.

Questions worth asking

  • Which goals actually moved this month?
  • What did I spend time on that I'd rather not repeat?
  • Which habits held, and which quietly lapsed?
  • What's the one thing next month should be about?

Write it down somewhere you'll see it

A monthly note in the goal journal or a planner entry gives next month a starting point. Reviews compound only if you can read the last one.
