A Calm Approach to Managing Recurring Tasks

Recurring tasks keep the routine running — until there are so many that they bury everything else.

Recurring tasks are a promise to your future self

A well-chosen recurring task means you never have to remember to do something regular. A poorly chosen one becomes daily noise you learn to ignore — which trains you to ignore the useful ones too.

Audit them occasionally

Every so often, look at your recurring tasks and ask which still earn their place. Deleting a recurrence you always skip is a relief, not a loss.

Match frequency to reality

If a weekly task keeps getting skipped, maybe it's really a fortnightly one. Recurrence should describe how life actually works, not how you wish it did.
